First rumored in late September, the Jarritos x Nike SB Dunk Low have finally been unveiled. Scheduled to release May 6th, the upcoming collaboration would be yet another seemingly random partnership for the iconic Swoosh brand, although its recent catering to Latinx consumers gives rhyme and reason to the unexpected joint-effort. Because of Jarritos’ healthy number of flavored beverages, its Nike Dunk has been anticipated to follow suit, but the first in-hand look at a co-branded dunk reveals otherwise.
Featuring a burlap/hemp overlay in tan, a green swoosh in twill, and a light grey leather base. Profile swooshes deviate from their surroundings in a rich green hue that takes direct inspiration from the Mexican beverage company’s iconic jug logo, which is stamped on the lateral heel. Traditional “Nike SB” logos on the top of the tongue are stylized as Jarrito’s logo, further animating the relatively-muted sneaker with more green and orange flair. Lastly, the Peter Moore-designed outsole underfoot is clad in both green and orange colors as another nod to the unprecedented collaboration between two American giants. While it’s unlikely the shoes’ upper reveals a more vibrant color arrangement to match the various Jarritos beverage flavors.
It’s expected that the roll-out, packaging, and overall campaign for the upcoming SB drop to be one for the books, perhaps in the spirit of the brand’s Ben & Jerry’s collaboration from 2020. These will no doubt be somewhat difficult to cop with it being a dunk. All we can say is to expect to pay a hefty amount if you miss out on release day.
